• Say “por favor” and “gracias” often. Politeness goes a long way in Spanish-speaking countries. Always start a request with “por favor” (please) and end with “gracias” (thank you).
• Learn the 24-hour clock. Most transportation schedules use 24-hour time. 15:30 = las tres y media de la tarde (3:30 PM).
• Tipping varies. In Spain, tipping is modest (round up or leave small change). In Latin America, 10–15% is standard in restaurants.
• Don’t be afraid to mispronounce. Locals appreciate the effort. Even broken Spanish is better than demanding English.
